Who we Are

Our Team

David Moke

David’s worked with major names in event production, concert promotion, and musician management, including Warner Brothers, AEG Live, and WEA Distribution. After working on large productions like the Mile High Music Festival and Snowball Festival, and founding Denver’s Blacktop Festival, he set his sights on space activation and creative programming to better bridge the gap between creatives and their cities. Today, Moke works with the Denver Theatre District, is on the board of Denver's Art District on Santa Fe, and has previously sat on Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock's Executive Leadership Team. He has also partnered with History Colorado, Denver International Airport, Denver Arts and Venues, and the Downtown Denver Partnership, to name a few.

For Moke, connection is the key: between the dope people he knows and the relationships he builds among them, he is a true emissary of the arts.

David Ehrlich

Founder of Urban Activation Institute Ehrlich’s primary clients include the Denver Theatre District, of which he is the Executive Director. Ehrlich’s clients in the realm of media district creation include, the City of Minneapolis, the City of San Jose, the City of West Hollywood and the City of Minneapolis. In 2018 Ehrlich assisted Central Atlanta Progress in the successful creation and launch of the Downtown Atlanta Arts and Entertainment District.

Annie Geimer

Annie co-founded Communitas Consulting after years of working for Superfly Presents in San Francisco, where she organized and launched major music festivals including Bonnaroo and Outside Lands. At Superfly, Annie was directly involved in operations, logistics, and marketing activation, and over time her mission became to strengthen the local art community by empowering creatives. Currently, Annie works with arts-focused groups including the Denver Theatre District, Denver Art Museum’s Culturehaus, Santa Fe’s Meow Wolf, and Finwater Advisors.

Annie’s talent for translating bold, creative visions into fully-formed and well-executed events makes her an ideal conduit between the artist and client.

A Message From The Founder

Why UAI?

At 39 years old, I left my role as a “recovering” sports and entertainment lawyer to enter the space of urban place-making. The journey began with the Denver Theatre District where I built a team that has spent 10 years creating unique programming spaces in downtown Denver, funded exclusively by outdoor media revenue.

Over the past 10 years I have observed people craving connection in their cities. Even brief connections foster urban community built through shared experiences. When people come together and share an experience, we are all better for it.

In my experience developing the Denver Theatre District and launching the Atlanta Arts and Entertainment District, it has become clear that the unique district model – place-making powered by outdoor media – brings meaningful positive change through urban activation.

Light (via outdoor media) gives people the comfort to gather; once they gather, you can deliver programming; programming begins to create community.

In working with UAI, you will work with people who share this passion to build community and join a national effort to re-shape outdoor media as the mechanism to power that passion.

How We Do It

We Work
For The People

we brighten urban environments through local civic and corporate sponsorship of artistic activations, generating incremental revenue by attracting additional visitors to downtown restaurants, bars, and attractions.

District Structure

Efficiently Managed

districts are able to set up as a 501(c)(3) or an affiliate/subsidiary of a downtown stakeholder. In either case, a district can be governed by public and private sector representatives in the form of a Board of Directors or Advisors.
